Election results

We are pleased to announce the results of the recent elections to form our Council of Governors. Thank you to all the candidates who nominated themselves to stand for election. Your interest in the Trust and what we do is appreciated. Click here to see the results, listed by constituency.

Our Chairman, Mark Taylor will be writing to everyone soon. We now plan to fill our outstanding vacancies to ensure we have a full complement of governors.

Election details

The election was conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system.

Electoral Reform Services can confirm that, as far as reasonably practicable, every person whose name appeared on the electoral roll supplied to us for the purpose of the ballot:

  • was sent the details of the ballot and
  • if they chose to participate in the ballot, had their vote fairly and accurately recorded.

The elections were conducted in accordance with the rules and constitutional arrangements as set out previously by the Trust, and ERS is satisfied that these were in accordance with accepted good electoral practice.

A full report of the election is available upon request. Please contact  dpn-tr.membership(*at*)nhs.net or telephone our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 0730 741.

Promoting mental health and wellbeing – taking steps towards living well

The Trust has completed a pilot study exploring the use of guidance on taking action to promote the mental health and personal wellbeing of staff. The ‘Five ways to wellbeing’ arose as part of the National Foresight Campaign which developed a set of recommendations for action. These are based on evidence from over 400 scientists worldwide of what actions people can take that are strongly associated with improved mental health and wellbeing. This health promotion message is all the more attractive because it guides people to value doing things that are simple, available and free.

The Devon project has reported on its outcomes and also created a range of resources suitable to anyone wishing to take action to improve wellbeing and consider what the ‘Five ways to wellbeing’ could mean for them personally or for their team click here.

For further information and access to additional supportive resources contact the Trust’s Communications Team on 01392 208693.

Putting Recovery at the Heart of all we do

The move towards focusing on a person’s recovery represents one of the most fundamental shifts in mental healthcare that we have seen in decades. It is about helping people to build a meaningful and satisfying life, as defined by them. It represents a movement away from focusing on a person’s illness, symptoms and medication towards their health, personal strengths and wellbeing. The values that underpin the notion of recovery include hope, choice, acceptance, inclusion, respect and believing in people. Adopting these values when we work with people can play a huge part in our success in helping them to recover.

Working with our recovery partners across Devon and Torbay we have jointly published a guide entitled Putting recovery at the heart of all we do. This shares the values, principles, practices and standards that we all endeavour to work towards in supporting people's recovery.
