Occupational Therapy

What do we do?

A person with learning disabilities concentrates as they carefully water a beautiful flower in a pot.The work of Occupational Therapists (OTs) with people with Learning Disabilities around Devon is interesting and varied. Occupational Therapists recognise and understand that everyone has a different lifestyle and how each person chooses to live is up to them. They will consider the importance of how a person's physical, mental and social needs will impact on their ability to achieve the goals that are most important to them.

OTs will work with a person to design a programme of treatment based on the individual's unique lifestyle and preferences, enhancing someone's ability to participate in everyday activities.
